S2000HXII (Samurai Cotton GL3 model)

This is a renewed model of the Samurai Vintage Series “S2000HX”. The denim is 15.8oz Samurai Cotton GL3 selvedge woven with Samurai Cotton in the weft on the old GL3 power loom while the pocket bags are an olive herringbone slake fabric.

The top button is an iron laurel button while the smaller buttons below are SAMURAI JAPAN iron buttons. The SAMURAI CO LTD rivets and hidden rivets are the thick, two-pronged type, and the leather label is based on Samurai Jeans' early WWII model while the flasher sports a camo pattern. 

As always, the sewing specs and techniques have been carefully considered and executed to reproduce that old-time atmosphere with utmost attention paid to the cotton threads used as well as the needle count and stitch width while also keeping other basic specs that were typical on war models such as keeping some inner seam areas looking unfinished. The silhouette is a slightly wide straight with plenty of room in the rise and hip area.

NEW original denim - 15.8oz Samurai Cotton GL3 Selvedge Denim

The warp thread is a slubby #6 thread made of 100% Texas cotton, and is dyed a deep indigo color with a strong blue reminiscent of denim from the 1950s. The weft is a #5 yarn made with our own Samurai Cotton mixed in, and these are both woven together slowly and carefully on the legendary GL3 loom known as the crowning achievement of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Company. This was one of the earliest power looms in Japan, and is a very rare machine that can weave fabric while still keeping the slubby structure of the yarns intact.

The beautiful natural color of the warp threads along with the nep and roughness of the short-staple Japanese cotton weft give this denim both a natural look and rough texture. The selvedge has an off white "kinari" base with a pale pink center thread, giving the impression of a faded red. A single strand of glitter lame thread was also added for a bit of Samurai pride.
